The second most successful and productive town band comes from an unlikely field of music, Rockabilly, and they are the Cotton brothers from St James known as The Jets.The Jets also had a couple of top thirty UK hits with “Yes Tonight Josephine” and “Love Makes the World Go Round”, toured extensively and made many televisionappearances.

My wife and I travelled the 223 kilometres (139 mi) to Christchurch in just under five hours passing through 16 tunnels and crossed over four viaducts, with the Staircase Viaduct being 75 metres(246

Having spent a wonderful few days in the North West cities of Liverpool and Manchester I couldn’t face several hours of motorway driving so I decided to journey back home via the High Peak District of Derbyshire taking in Glossop, the notorious Snake pass, the Hope Valley and Lady Bower Reservoir. A SLICE OF HEAVEN IN LLANARMON The Hand at Llanarmon – Ceiriog Valley . I somewhat foolishly decided to allow the sat nav to guide me across the very narrow, steep mountain roads from Llangollen to Llanarmon rather than the more pleasurable drive along the beautiful Ceiriog Valley from Chirk.. Having stopped off at the sweeping Horseshoe Pass and the Horseshoe Falls or Weir, I had already begun to appreciate the beauty of IT`S GETTING BETTER ALL THE TIME IN SOUTHPORT I had been to Southport once before, so I was very much looking forward to visiting again! Like many other visitors to this part of the country I had over the years, mainly as a child, been driven a little further up the coast to its noisy neighbour, Blackpool on the Fylde coast, but until a couple of years ago I had never found my way across to this large seaside town south of the Ribble estuary.HOME TO A PRINCESS
