COMMON ARGUMENTS AGAINST INCLUSION—AND WHY THEY'RE WRONG Ask any teacher their opinion about including students with disabilities in general education classrooms, and you’ll likely hear views based either firmly in support or staunch opposition. The debate can become even more heated when you talk about including students with more significant disabilities like Autism Spectrum Disorder or Down syndrome. Students with disabilities have only had a legally protected right to attend public school since the passing of The Education for All Handicapped Children Act (PL 94-142) in 1975.
