SIMPLE SPICE CABINET ORGANIZATIONFebruary 12 by Tori
The home projects that usually get done around here are ones that you can see when you walk in (like our kitchen hardware cabinet refresh).
But, for years I have been wanting to tackle organizing my spice cabinet. However, because it’s one of those areas no one ever sees (hello master closet!), it just has never been a priority for me. Leave it to month five of maternity leave to finally get to the top of my list. And so, project “spice cabinet organization” finallyhappened!
I’m sharing the simple spice cabinet organization project that I did in my kitchen–it might not be the fanciest but it works perfectly for me! And bonus–it only took about an hour! That’s clearly the “after” photo so scroll to see the “before.” Basically our spice cabinet was a hot mess. Tell me yours is too so I will feel a little better ;).(more…)

BROWN SUGAR BOURBON COCKTAILJanuary 23 by Tori
While I’m no stranger to bourbon cocktails (my go-to is a KentuckyMule
followed closely by a Blackberry Bourbon Smash),
I don’t have a lot of experience creating bourbon drinks that are meant to be sipped–slowly. After failing during the holidays to properly make myself (and savor) a Manhattan(let’s just
say it was basically just bourbon, and a lot of it . . . that I “drank” not “sipped” ooops), I learned my lesson and realized I needed to do a little research and development. I decided to craft a new recipe to enjoy that I think you’ll like too. This Brown Sugar Bourbon Cocktail is well balanced and delicious. Don’t be afraid–go ahead and try it! You can serve this recipe with ice (on the rocks) or without (neat). I prefer my cocktails on the rocks and love using a single large ice cube tray from Amazon. This recipe does require a little prep to make the brown sugar simple syrup but is overall very easy to make. You only need your bourbon of choice, simple syrup, orange juice, and mint and an orange rind forgarnish.
This cocktail is also best served using freshly squeezed orange juice. Since you don’t need a lot of it, it’s not that big of a chore to make your own (it’s so worth it). Also, I suggest rimming one portion of the rim of each glass with brown sugar. To get the sugar to stick to the rim, just dip it into syrup. It really steps up both the presentation and the taste.Print Recipe

FINALLY! OUR NEUTRAL NURSERY REVEALNovember 18 by Tori
I know, I know . . . I haven’t been writing here lately (I have been updating on Insta if that means anything though? Ha!). Well, I’m finally back into creating content around here now that the babe is 3 months old. In fact, I am finally sharing pics from his neutral nursery! I shared our modern neutralnursery inspo
with you a few months back, and I’m finally posting the actual photos from his room. I love how it came out. I wanted it to feel calming with natural elements and I think we pulled it off! This used to be a loft where I had my office, but the Mr. converted it into a nursery for our littleguy.
And here he is! Ladies and gents, this is Reid. He also loves is newnursery.
This crib
might be my favorite piece in the room. It will grow with him also and convert into a toddler bed and twin bed. I can see this looking greatas he gets older.
This corner is also a favorite. We do a lot of feedings and story timehere. The rocker
looks great in this room but will also look good anywhere in our home–it’s definitely a piece we will reuse. We opted for a niche vs. a closed in closet. I like how the dresseris
tucked back here and the shelf above has different shapes and sizes of baskets which hold extra diapers, blankets, and other baby odds &ends.
These book racks add a modern flair to the room which I love. I plan to swap out these books often. He already loves story time! Since it took us so long to decide on a name (up until the week of his birth!), I was late ordering this name sign . . . but it was worth thewait. I LOVE it!
I hope you like this peek into our little guy’s neutral nursery. Now, this momma needs to get back to blogging about cocktail recipesand party ideas! ;)

OUR MODERN NEUTRAL NURSERY INSPIRATIONJune 20 by Tori
It’s been very quiet on the blog for some time now but I am excited to be back and am ready to share new content with you all (including our plans for a modern neutral nursery!). Because . . . If you didn’t catch it on Instagram, we’re expecting! And, it’s a boy! (Yes, we’re still in total shock!) With just about 10 weeks to go, we’re finishing up the final touches on the nursery. Here’s the inspiration and planning I put together before we built the room. We converted my old office/loft space into an additional bedroom for the baby. I knew that I wanted it to have a modern, neutral vibe even before we knew if we were having a boy orgirl.
I wanted it to feel bright with some texture and natural elements throughout. All of the pieces below ended up making it into the final design–plus a few others I can’t wait to show you. What do you think? I can’t wait to share photos from the actual nursery. More to come soon!_Sources_

SIMPLE KITCHEN REFRESH: CABINENT HARDWAREFebruary 15 by Tori
This spring we’re doing a few simple home updates that don’t require a lot of money or major overhaul. When it came to our kitchen we wanted to figure out a way to give it a new look and feel without any demo of the cabinets or countertops so we decided a simple kitchen refresh would include new cabinent hardware. You can see the final outcome (above) was the addition of matte blackcabinent handles
and cup drawer pulls.
We think this made a big impact on our kitchen! Before, we had just plain white knobs on all of our cabinets and drawers. They blended in with the stark white cabinets and offered little on the design front. After removing the original knobs, we measured out and drilled additional holes to fit our new cabinent hardware and beganinstalling.
I love the way the matte black pops against the white cabinets anddrawers!
The entire project took about 3 hours (because we had to measure and drill additional holes) and costs under $300. We ended up adding a total of 50 handles to cabinets (throughout our kitchen, laundry room, and loft space) and 20 drawer pulls. The cost of this project would vary depending on how many handles and pulls you needed. What do you think? Do you like this kitchen refresh? Next up, we’re going to paint the walls. Stay tuned!SOURCES:

YOUR NEW FAVORITE PARTY APPETIZER IDEAS FOR ENTERTAININGOctober 17 by Tori
It seems like every time I am planing an event, I get stumped on party appetizer ideas. I end up on Pinterest waisting_ hours_ trying to find appetizers to make that are unique, flavorful, and easy. If you’ve found yourself doing the same, you know that it’s harder than it sounds. I typically end up with a giant grocery list, spending hours in the kitchen, and making a huge mess. No fun. _This post is sponsored, all opinions are my own._ So, when Harry & David reached out to me to share their new Gourmet collection, I was ALL EARS. As you know, I am _all_ about finding ways to simplify entertaining without sacrificing the thought and guest experience part of it. Harry & David has launched a new collection of distinctive gourmet fare, created for everyday entertaining with elegance and ease. It’s called Harry & David Gourmet (and let me just tell you, it’s a dream come true for hosts and hostesseseverywhere).
If you’re looking for a creative way to serve appetizers, I’m sharing my go-to set up. I make an appetizer buffet. We’ve talked about setting up a buffet before, but
this one is specifically for appetizers. It’s the perfect way to have a thoughtful display for guests and also allows them to serve themselves which is perfect for informal gatherings in your home. The first step is clearing a sideboard, buffet, or console table to use as your buffet table. Next, I layer on a runner and different serving pieces I’ll be using for the appetizers. Just gather what you have at home–platters, cake stands, and cheese boards all work well. Don’t be afraid to mix and match. I love to pull out the drawer of my console table and use it to house napkins and appetizer plates. Guests can just grab what they need. Then of course, it’s time to layer on the appetizers! Be sure to include a variety so guests can be sure to find something they’ll like. The Harry & David Gourmet Collection has everything from savory to sweet which makes having avariety easy.
I can’t say enough about the variety of appetizers they offer–They are all so delicious, so simple to make, and sure to impress your guests! Whether it’s a savory side dish, dessert, or an entire decadent spread, Harry & David Gourmet has everything for entertaining with elegance and ease. They can all be mixed and matched for any occasion–Book club, holiday parties, game night, and any other time you gather with friends and family. On my appetizer buffet I included: the Rustic Appetizer Assortment, Brunch Appetizer Assortment, and the East Meets West Appetizer Assortment. They are all crowd-pleasing party appetizer ideas.
