WINDCHARGER BATTERY STORAGE On November 7, 2019, the Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC) approved TransAlta’s application to construct and operate the WindCharger battery storage facility at the Summerview Wind Farm substation. The AUC approval was granted under decision 24454-D01-2019. Construction of the WindCharger battery storage facility began on March 31, 2020and

TransAlta’s Ottawa facility was commissioned in 1992. In 2009, we installed an LM6000 Sprint gas turbine (the same engine has been used to power 747 aircrafts). The upgrade improves overall plant efficiency, reducing emissions intensity by six per cent while increasing production by nine per cent. The plant also has one steamturbine.
WINDRISE | TRANSALTA The Windrise Wind Project is situated on 11,000 acres of land located in the Municipal District of Willow Creek. The Antrim Wind Project is situated on over 1,700 acres of land located in Hillsborough County, New Hampshire. TransAlta acquired the 28.8 MW Project in March 2019. The Project reached Commercial Operations on December 24, 2019. The Project consists of 9 x POCATERRA | TRANSALTA Pocaterra is one of TransAlta’s four hydro plants on the Kananaskis System, which is part of the Bow River Electric System in Alberta. The plant generates an average of 29,000 megawatt hours each year. The Pocaterra Plant was named after surveyor George Pocaterra, a pioneer rancher from Italy. Pocaterra was one of the first to prospect for AKOLKOLEX | TRANSALTA Akolkolex. The Akolkolex facility began commercial operation in 1995 when the generator was first synchronized with the BC Hydro electric system. The powerhouse is located adjacent to the Akolkolex River, 25 kilometres southeast of Revelstoke, B.C. The river discharges into the Upper Arrow Reservoir, which is part of the Columbia River Basin.
