June 9, 2021. Electoral Area Directors and alternates, RD Chairs and RD staff are invited to attend a virtual session on Monday June 28 from 10am – 12pm with the UBCM EA Representative, Director Grace McGregor, to discuss potential platforms for ongoing communication. UBCM | POVERTY REDUCTION The intent of the Poverty Reduction Planning & Action program is to support local governments in reducing poverty at the local level and to support the Province’s poverty reduction strategy. For all funded projects, it is expected that in-person activities, meetings, or events meet physical distancing and other public health guidance in UBCM | ACTIVE TRANSPORTATION Active Transportation. Applications are not currently being accepted for this program. The intent of the Active Transportation Planning program is to support local governments to incorporate or enhance active transportation components of formal planning documents (Official Community Plan, Sustainability Plan, Neighbourhood Plan, or Transportation Plan), including research, consultation, UBCM | DOG & CAT TAGS UBCM has negotiated a discounted group rate with our supplier to provide savings for all participating members. Dog tags are in the shape of a blue dog bone while the cat tags are in the shape of a small blue circle (and are also suitable for small dogs). In order to better meet the child care needs of families, under Budget 2018, the Province of British Columbia announced expanded investment in the child care sector totalling $1 billion over three years.This includes $237 million to improve access to child care, including funding the creation of 22,000 new licensed UBCM | COMMUNITY WORKS FUND The Community Works Fund (CWF) is delivered to all local governments in British Columbia through a direct annual allocation to support local priorities. Local governments make local choices about which REQUEST TO EXTEND PROPERTY TAX DEFERRAL PROGRAM The Union of B.C. Municipalities has written to Minister Selina Robinson to seek the expansion of the existing Property Tax Deferral Program, additional provincial funding for public transit and the development of an infrastructure stimulus framework to supporteconomic recovery.
