Housing is a key infrastructure for cities’ economic growth and wellbeing of their citizens. Yet, lack of adequate housing of good quality is a continuing problem in most European countries. Over the past decade, worsening affordability, homelessness, social and housing polarisation and new forms of housing deprivation have been an increasing concern for public policies.URBAN SECURITY

Europeans need to feel confident that, wherever they move within Europe, their freedom and their security are well protected, in full compliance with the Union's values, including the rule of law and fundamental rights.URBAN MOBILITY
Cities are important nodes of the European transport system as most trips start or end in urban areas. Urban transport plays a key role in achieving economic competitiveness, social cohesion and sustainable growth. MONITORING AND EVALUATION PRACTICES: UIA LESSONS LEARNT In 2020, it commissioned Ecorys to conduct the ‘Capitalisation activity on good practices for monitoring and evaluation of results in Urban Innovative Actions (UIA) projects’. As well as identifying good M&E practices, the capitalisation activities aimed to explore why and in what way these could be seen as such.DEMOGRAPHIC CHANGE

Whereas, almost a third of the EU population, 31%, live in a region that lost population due to net outward migration, i.e. more people leaving the region than people entering the region, between 2005 and 2015.
