Grass Valley Group. Dr. Hare started the D.G.C. Hare company in 1949. Among many products, mostly magnetic recorders, they built the Cinerama amplifiers. We believe this is an early D.G.C. Hare tube Cinerama amplifier and logo tag. The Grass Valley Group was formed by Dr. Donald Hare in 1959. Analog oscilloscopes show XY displays in real time where digital oscilloscopes have to acquire the signal and then display the data so generally are not as good. This exhibit is a combination of two products, the Tektronix 1401 Spectrum Analyzer and the Sony/Tek 323 4 MHz single channel oscilloscope. It is a great portable spectrum analyzer configuration and the NiCd batteries in the 323 are often stillfunctional!

The Type 422 first appeared in the mid-1965 Tektronix catalog. It is a dual-trace 15 MHz portable oscilloscope ideal for field service work. It used Tektronix' first CRT with a scan expansion mesh to allow a four-inch diagonal screen size with a package depth comparable to the300 series.

CRT Time Capsule. The CRT Operation ran from 1954 until 1996, a total of 42 years of providing significant technology to Tektronix. At their 35th anniversary in 1989 the CRT Operation created a time capsule which we are fortunate to have some of the items at the museum. This August 8, 1981 TekWeek features the last 491 Portable Spectrum Analyzer built. The museum has a 496 spectrum analyzer introduced in 1982 on display. It is configured with a TR503 tracking generator. The tracking generator is a sweeping signal source at the same frequency as the spectrum analyzer.CHIEF ENGINEERS

It is a great portable spectrum analyzer configuration and the NiCd batteries in the 323 are often stillfunctional!

At their 35th anniversary in 1989 the CRT Operation created a time capsule which we are fortunate to have some of the items at the museum. (HEERENVEEN) The Heerenveen plant, situated in the center of the Netherlands, was started in 1961. The official opening was on June 22, 1962. Here is a photo of a young Earl Wantland taken in 1962. TEKTRONIX GUERNSEY LTD The first Tektronix building was a former weaving mill located on Victoria Avenue and occupied from 1961 to 1963. This highlighted building is the location of the the Tektronix Guernsey Ltd office. Al Hannman was the General Manager of the Guernsey facility and he is transporting Tektronix products on his Austin Healey luggage rack.422 OSCILLOSCOPE

At their 35th anniversary in 1989 the CRT Operation created a time capsule which we are fortunate to have some of the items at the museum. A few of the CRTs were damaged but the vast majority of items give a clear TEKTRONIX IN MOVIES AND SHOWS Tektronix equipment has been used in movies and shows. This is the earliest film we know of which features a Tektronix oscilloscope. The Type 422 first appeared in the mid-1965 Tektronix catalog. It is a dual-trace 15 MHz portable oscilloscope ideal for field service work. It used Tektronix' first CRT with a scan expansion mesh to allow a four-inch diagonal screen size with a package depth comparable to the300 series.

The mainframe accepts three plug-ins and this oscilloscope is configured with an 11A34 Four Channel Amplifier and a 11A52 600 MHz dual-channel plug-in.
