The gardens were laid NATURE RESERVE "ELLERGRONN" From mines to nature reserves There are certain landscapes that change dramatically over time, and the Ellergronn Nature Reserve is one of them. Formerly known as the Kazebierg extraction zone, located south of Esch-sur-Alzette, this area was primarily used for iron-ore mining until a few decades ago. After the mines were abandoned, the land was transformed into a multitude of habitats, which AQUARIUM WASSERBILLIG A mysterious habitat Wasserbillig Aquarium “A fascinating aquarium, a mysterious habitat” – enter the colourful, species-rich diversity of the underwater world. Here you’ll find exotic and native fish living in saltwater and freshwater tanks where whole landscapes have been created from plants and rocks. The 15 different aquariums contain a total of 90,000 litres of water. The rocky CIRCULAR WALK "NATURWANDERPARK DELUX: NAT'OUR ROUTE 2 Hiking this route is like travelling back in time. In the last century, a considerable number of mills still rattled along the Our. Weirs were built in many places to channel water to them and create pools for the use of residents. Recently, however, a cross-border project removed the weirs and built fish ladders. Now the trout can once again swim upstream to their spawning grounds. In HIKING- AND CYCLING TRAIL "OURDALL PROMENADE" 8.5 kilometre trail (expandable to +11 km) in the north of the country connecting Vianden and Stolzembourg, the "Ourdall Promenade" leads along the Our river, which is dammed to form a lake in the valley, away from traffic and on a separate path for hikers and cyclists, allowing them to discover the beautiful scenery. The hike also includes 10 information signs with facts and figures about the AUTO-PÉDESTRE TRAIL BERDORF Enjoy a wander through fields and woods, past the valley of the Halsbaach and the Perekop rocks before following the course of the Aesbech. Beaufort Castles: medieval fortifications and Renaissance elegance In the beautiful countryside of Beaufort, you can visit not one but two castles. Not far from the chateau’s idyllic little lake, an impressive medieval castle towers over the scene. It was built between 1050 and 1650. Following major repairs, the imposing ruins opened to the public as long ago as 1932 and today they are AUTO-PÉDESTRE TRAIL NOMMERN I This short walk – which contains numerous narrow passages and a few steps – explores the adventurous rock formations of Noumerléen before returning to its starting point. Closest bus stop: Nommern, Kiirch (1,2 km) Closest parking lot: Eglise/Mairie (50 m) CIRCULAR WALK ESCH-SUR-SÛRE I Description. Start: near the Sûre bridge at the rue de Kaundorf in Esch-sur-Sûre. We follow the Sûre valley in the direction of the dam and ramble on the national footpath "Circuit du Lac" through the forest and along the lake.
