MORNING REPORT: AKILAH WEBER AND LA MESA'S CHANGING POLITICS La Mesa and the rest of the state’s 79th District have a new representative in the Assembly, but that’s far from the only political change the East County suburb has seen over the last three years. La Mesa went from a City Council governed mostly by Republicans to one without a single registered Republican, and CITY TRIED TO WITHHOLD MEMO THAT WAS ALREADY PUBLIC City Tried to Withhold Memo That Was Already Public. The ordeal lays bare how subjective the public records process can be. At various points over the last couple months, different city officials decided that the memo couldn’t be released, that it didn’t exist and that releasing it is totally fine. All of the players involved MAJORITY OF SAN DIEGO HIGH SCHOOLERS STAYING IN FULL-TIME In the massive return to schools underway across San Diego, one group is noticeably hanging back: high schoolers. Age, across the board, plays a big role in whether students and their families are choosing to return to campus, according to a Voice of San Diego analysis of reopening data collected by the San Diego County Office of Education.. Border agents are apprehending fewer migrants who cross without authorization and are immediately sending some of the migrants back to Mexico.. Add to that list the illegal drug trade.
