24 February - 7 June 2021. This exhibition allows visitors to discover Galileo through interactive experiments. Developed by The Artisans of Florence, whose Da Vinci and Archimedes exhibitions we have shown previously, this exhibition is ideal for children, families, and school groups, keen to experience science hands on. More. GALLERIES - WAIKATO MUSEUM Ida Carey Gallery. 1891 – 1982. Ida Carey was a significant Waikato artist. In the 1920s and 30s Ida Carey studied art in Sydney. An influential teacher and painter, she co-founded the Waikato Society of Arts in 1934. In the 1960’s, she painted a series of Maaori woman with the moko. A woman with great tenacity and courage who made an ARTSPOST GALLERIES & SHOP ArtsPost is dedicated to developing and promoting artists, and to growing a dynamic and supportive environment for the arts in the Waikato region. Located in one of Hamilton's heritage buildings, this former Post Office is now a retail space and gallery. OUR HISTORY
Hamilton City and the surrounding districts were developed on the traditional lands of several of Waikato Tainui hapu. Below the area where this museum now stands there was a waka landing site that was called Te Korokoro. This site got its name from a fresh water spring that was said to have curative powers. Wakas were often beached at Te Korokoro to be repaired.BECOME A FRIEND

Thousands waited outside.One of urban Hamilton’s most violent days, 25 July was the outcome of months of planning, counter-planning, and public discontent: 1981 was a NATIONAL CONTEMPORARY ART AWARD Waikato Museum hosts two well-known national art awards. The Fieldays No.8 Wire National Art Award and the National Contemporary Art Award are two very diverse awards which attract entries from throughout New Zealand. These awards are must-see events on the New Zealand arts calendar and contribute greatly to Hamilton’s reputation as a city with an outstanding arts and culture offer. Hamilton City and the surrounding districts were developed on the traditional lands of several of Waikato Tainui hapu. Below the area where this museum now stands there was a waka landing site that was called Te Korokoro. This site got its name from a fresh water spring that was said to have curative powers.
