UN RELEASES LIST OF COMPANIES INVOLVED IN THE ISRAELI The UN list of 112 companies involved in the Israeli occupation is an important step toward corporate accountability. However, its narrow focus and restrictive temporal frame leave out hundreds of complicit corporations and wider structures of dispossession. ODORTEC – WHOPROFITS A private Israeli company specializing in the research and development of advanced non-toxic, non-lethal scent-based repellents for law enforcement. Odortec, in collaboration with the Technological Development Department of the Israel Police, developed “the Skunk”. The Skunk is classified as a scent-based non-lethal weapon. It was designed to be sprayed from a distance in order to disperse GENERAL MILLS (PILLSBURY) A US-based publicly traded company manufacturing frozen dough products. One of the plants producing General Mills’ Pillsbury brand products is Shalgal (Food), a Pillsbury bakery that is located in the Atarot industrial zone in the occupied West Bank. Shalgal is a large company of 200 employees, which is privately owned by Avraham Elbaz and Maimon Ben David. TAHAL GROUP INTERNATIONAL A multinational engineering company specializing in water and waste-water systems. Tahal Group International was contracted to develop the master plan for sewerage and wastewater reuse for Jerusalem. The master plan covers the western plant (Sorek-Refa’im), which serves the settlements of Givat Zeev and Beitar Illit in the occupied West Bank, as well as two plants, Homat Shmuel and Nabi THE CENTRAL BOTTLING COMPANY A large private Israeli manufacturer and distributor of soft drinks, dairy products and alcoholic beverages.
