WILDLIFE VICTORIA
Our wildlife Emergency Response Service received a call about this beautiful Eastern Barn Owl found hiding in a small courtyard, with her wings splayed and unable to fly. When volunteer wildlife rescuer Sarah arrived, she found the owl feeling quite scared and peeping out from behind a pot plant. The owl was taken to the vet where her x-rays showed no signs of fractures and she has now settled into specialist care at a wildlife shelter. She is showing neurological symptoms so has possibly been clipped by a car or collided with something. Thank you to all involved for your care and expertise. We’re hoping she makes a full recovery and can be released back to the wild soon. How beautiful is that heart-shaped facial disc 💚__

It should not surprise anyone that Wildlife Victoria opposes the commercial killing of kangaroos. Our native kangaroos deserve our respect and care, not to be commercially slaughtered for the many reasons of profit, competing with sheep and cattle for grass, human consumption, pet food, for fur or "souvenirs" and certainly not for sports shoes! A new international campaign "Kangaroos are not shoes" has been launched by Center for a Humane Economy to target the sports clothing companies that make shoes of kangaroos kangaroosarenotshoes.org You can help save kangaroos by not buying kangaroo meat for your pets, or consumer goods made from their bodies 🦘💚__
