BASIC SKILLS FOR RESOLVING CONFLICTS AT HOME As you stay home with your family or housemates during this unusual time, there is an opportunity for more connection—and more conflict. A conflict that is resolved well leads to more connection and less conflict going forward. 3 BASICS TO PREVENT COLLUSION The word collusion in the context of personal work is often used to refer to agreement and joining in with negative judgments of others. It is often used as a strategy to offer support. But collusion is a costly strategy for showing support. When you are colluding, you are feeding reactivity in you ALARM FEELINGS: ANGER, GUILT, SHAME, AND SHUT DOWN Alarm Feelings: Anger, Guilt, Shame, and Shut down. Anger, guilt, shame, and shut down are important alarms. They let you know three things: 1) you are disconnected from your needs, 2) You have a perception that your needs are or will be unmet, 3) A specific and predictable kind of thinking is present. These alarms feelings aren't"bad" or invalid.
