R. W. WOOD: NOTE ON THE THEORY OF THE GREENHOUSE XXIV. Note on the Theory of the Greenhouse By Professor R. W. Wood (Communicated by the Author) THERE appears to be a widespread belief that the comparatively high temperature produced within a closed space covered with glass, and exposed to solar radiation, results from a transformation of wave-length, that is, that the heat waves from the sun, which are able to penetrate the glass, fall upon ANALYSIS OF LOWELL PONTE: THE COOLING; BY WMC Lowell Ponte wrote The Cooling on the subject in 1976 (which incidentally, can be found in Hodges Library). The theory then said that particulates reflected sunlight into space, thus preventing heat from reaching the earth. Predictions of a new ice age abounded. Then the earth started warming up.SCIENCE-TYPE STUFF
According to George Kukla of Columbia University, satellite photos indicated a sudden, large increase in Northern Hemisphere snow cover in the winter of 1971-72. And a study released last month by two NOAA scientists notes that the amount of sunshine reaching the ground in the continental U.S. diminished by 1.3% between 1964 and 1972. Another claim for the elusive "smoking gun" but I don't think so. Before reading my views, lets read the abstract: During the last 7 x 10^5 years the ocurrence of abrupt climatic variations, of an intensity H. H. LAMB, "CLIMATE HISTORY AND THE MODERN WORLD", 1982 That the climate was cooling was uncontroversial about 5-10 years previously. By 1982 the cooling trend had ended/become unclear (see wcc-1979 ). Lamb then goes on to consider perturbations to the natural climate from human influences: almost entirely about CO2 increases raising the global temperature. With caveats, he reports predictionsof T

Hello, and welcome to my web page. Its sadly out of date, and is likely to stay that way. "_Chuang Tzu replied, 'Have you never seen a wildcat or a weasel? There it lies, crouching and low, till the wanderer approaches; east and west it leaps about, avoiding neither what is high nor what is low, till it is caught in a trap, or dies in a net. The white horned owl collects its fleas in the night-time, and can discern the point of a hair, but in bright day it stares with its eyes and cannot see a mound or a hill; the natures of creatures are different. 'Hence the sayings, "Shall we not follow and honour the right, and have nothing to do with the wrong? shall we not follow and honour those who secure good government, and have nothing to do with those who produce disorder?" show a want of acquaintance with the principles of Heaven and Earth, and with the different qualities of things. It is like following and honouring Heaven and taking no account of Earth; it is like following and honouring the Yin and taking no account of the Yang. It is clear that such a course cannot be pursued. Yet notwithstanding they go on talking so: if they are not stupid, they are visionaries. The Ti sovereigns resigned their thrones to others in one way, and the rulers of the three dynasties transmitted their thrones to their successors in another.
