ARUWAI FALLS
S everal impressive rapids and waterfalls have formed on Mazaruni River on its route down from Pacaraima Mountains. Aruwai Falls are among the most impressive ones. Mazaruni River starts high in Roraima tepui. These little-explored highlands are spectacular, with unexplored tablelands – tepui. Diamonds are mined here since thelate 19th century.
KURUTUIK FALLS
Kurutuik Falls is approximately 100 m tall and 20 - 30 m wide waterfall on Ireng River, with two cascades. Located in remote, rarelyvisited area.
GOUINA FALLS
Gouina Falls have formed on the mighty Senegal River. Water here falls over the step of hard Precambrian sandstone forming some 15 – 16 m tall and approximately 500 m wide waterfall. During the rainy season these falls become very powerful – up to 2430 m³ of water every second (or even 5000 m³/s) what is comparable with the most powerful LANDMARKS OF SAINT BARTHELEMY Saint Barthélemy is an overseas collectivity of France. This small Caribbean island has rather dry climate and no rivers. It has beautiful landscape and numerous red roofed houses, often from colonial times. There are not too many landmarks. The rims of the crater are near vertical – one should be very careful here. The lava lake was small but absolutely fascinating. It had constant lava fountains rising up to 30 m high, the small lake had a constant movement, mesmerizing the visitors. STÓRIHVER GEOTHERMAL AREA Stórihver Geothermal Area is an impressive geothermal area north from Mýrdalsjökull glacier. The large, blue pool of Stórihver is some 15m wide.
COLA DE CABALLO, JALISCO Cola de Caballo in Jalisco falls over vertical cliffs in smaller side ravine of the giant Barranca the Huentitán (Oblatos) canyon. This canyon is up to 520 m deep and contains nature reserve with interesting deciduous tropical forest where the trees for some 7 months per year are without leaves.
