BANDSAW TIRES COMING OFF Assuming all adjustments are within reason, and I think they are, the solution seems to be replacing the tires with urethane. With what I know now, this seems a likely solution. The tires on my bandsaw simply slide back on with very little effort. COCKBEADING A DRAWER A cockbead, or cockbeading, is a thin, beaded lip molding that is applied to traditional period drawer fronts primarily to protect the edges of the decorative face veneer. The cockbeading also masks slight variations in the fit between the drawer and the opening, and adds a shadow line and some visual interest to the aesthetic of the piece. WOODCENTRAL ARTICLES & REVIEWS Excalibur Sliding Table Review. Mine's the 49" model that with the fence at the front will cross-cut a 4x8 panel. Capacity with the fence at the rear is 40". The good: the fence is a well-designed very strong aluminum extrusion with lots of T-slots for jigs, and contains a slide-out extension stop for repeat cuts up to - I think - 8' inlength.

This article is a brief discussion of setting up a cap iron on a common (Stanley Bailey or similar type) metal bench plane, but there will be some references to the older style cap irons that are flatter, without the "hump" that the Stanley-style stamped bench plane cap ironhas.
TURNING AN END GRAIN LIDDED BOX Turning an end grain lidded box differs primarily in the way the wood is oriented on the lathe and the tools that are used. Whereas the ring boxes previously described were turned in the face plate orientation, end grain lidded boxes are turned with the grain running the length of box in the spindle orientation. I round one edge with a scratch beader -- a profile scraper mounted in a wooden gauge -- because it leaves some irregularities that give the beading a handmadelook and feel.

David Weaver It's subtle in the picture I guess. But you can feel it with your fingertip. Strange thing, this whole learning deal. You find stuff you didn't expect to find (I thought 52100 would just be tops, that it would be strong and not deflect and then not chip, but instead, it deflects at reasonably high hardness when the "not-tough" steel chisels just let little bits go and that's it. BANDSAW TIRES COMING OFF Assuming all adjustments are within reason, and I think they are, the solution seems to be replacing the tires with urethane. With what I know now, this seems a likely solution. The tires on my bandsaw simply slide back on with very little effort. COCKBEADING A DRAWER A cockbead, or cockbeading, is a thin, beaded lip molding that is applied to traditional period drawer fronts primarily to protect the edges of the decorative face veneer. The cockbeading also masks slight variations in the fit between the drawer and the opening, and adds a shadow line and some visual interest to the aesthetic of the piece. WOODCENTRAL ARTICLES & REVIEWS Excalibur Sliding Table Review. Mine's the 49" model that with the fence at the front will cross-cut a 4x8 panel. Capacity with the fence at the rear is 40". The good: the fence is a well-designed very strong aluminum extrusion with lots of T-slots for jigs, and contains a slide-out extension stop for repeat cuts up to - I think - 8' inlength.

You find stuff you didn't expect to find (I thought 52100 would just be tops, that it would be strong and not deflect and then not chip, but instead, it deflects at reasonably high hardness when the "not-tough" steel chisels just let little bits go and that's it. SETTING A CAP IRON
This article is a brief discussion of setting up a cap iron on a common (Stanley Bailey or similar type) metal bench plane, but there will be some references to the older style cap irons that are flatter, without the "hump" that the Stanley-style stamped bench plane cap ironhas.

David Weaver sharpened off of the washita - there's a little bit of chromium in it or something. It's not harder than the 26c3 chisel, but it's a little bit more slick on a washita. The damage was shallower on the ward, the feel similar. It's just a slightly better chisel than IRE: PICS...
