PLANT A TREE FOR THE JUBILEE The Queen’s Green Canopy (QGC) is a tree planting initiative created to mark Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022. Everyone across the UK is being invited to plant trees from October 2021, when the tree planting season begins, through to the end of the Jubilee year in2022.

The route is laid out and maintained and is fine for walking children, however most of the route is not suitable for a pram. There are many places suitable for paddling in the river and a number of COCKCHAFER BEETLE (MELOLONTHA MELOLONTHA) Adults: cockchafer beetles are large and bulky, growing up to 30mm in length. It has characteristic fanned antennae, a black body, and brown legs and wingcases. Their undersides are covered with fine white hairs. Males have seven ‘feathers’ to each antennae while females have six. Larvae: are large yellow-white grubs with light brown heads. TREE BUMBLEBEE (BOMBUS HYPNORUM) The tree bumblebee is a recent arrival to the UK, arriving here naturally in 2003. Since then it has spread rapidly and is a valuablepollinator.
LOOKING OUT FOR SWIFTS The best time of day to look out for them is early morning or dusk. They hunt for insects high above the ground. You are more likely to see them around their preferred nest sites of rooftops, ventilation shafts or church towers. COCKCHAFER BEETLE (MELOLONTHA MELOLONTHA) Adults: cockchafer beetles are large and bulky, growing up to 30mm in length. It has characteristic fanned antennae, a black body, and brown legs and wingcases. Their undersides are covered with fine white hairs. Males have seven ‘feathers’ to each antennae while females have six. Larvae: are large yellow-white grubs with light brown heads.GOLITHA FALLS
