The weekend before the start of my Atlas North trip, I somehow ended up taking a spontaneous trip to Antigua. The opportunity was there and I couldn’t help but grab it. The three day, two night trip to the islands state would bring my country count to the big 60. PROSTITUTES AND TORTURE CHAMBERS IN KAMPALA, UGANDA Prostitutes and Torture Chambers in Kampala, Uganda. Continuing from Rwanda on the Africa segment of The Great Eastern Summer, we arrive in Kampala, Uganda where we encounter prostitutes, visit churches and mosques and explore the torture chambers of Idi Amin. On the following day we stop by Lake Victoria before leaving from Entebbe. A MISSTEP IS DEATH ON THE CLIFFS OF MOHER After our simple breakfast at the village, we headed out on our driving tour towards the Cliffs of Moher. We arrived at the large parking lot where you buy your entrance ticket when you park. It was a large parking lot, which is expected as they get around 1 million ESPIRITU SANTO WWII TOUR Espiritu Santo WWII Tour. Espiritu Santo was an important base of operations during WWII. The Allies used the island as a support and supply base. Santo eventually became the second largest US base in the Pacific with 40,000 troops stationed there. They had airbases, repair facilities and a naval harbor. CLIMBING MOUNT CAMEROON Climbing Mount Cameroon, the highest mountain in west and central Africa during the tour Wandering West Africa. The highest mountain in Western Africa is an active volcano right off the western shore of Cameroon. The last eruption was in 2012 and another one is due soon. At 4,020 m or 13,255 ft, it rises above the clouds where oxygen ismuch

LUDERITZ | WORLD-ADVENTURER The Portuguese explorer, Bartolomeu Dias, was first known to set foot in the Luderitz area in 1487. Eventually the town was established in 1883 by German settlers. A couple of decades later, diamonds were discovered in the area, Kolmanskop was established, and Luderitz prospered. After WWI many Germans were deported when South Africa tookover.
EXPLORING THE WORLD OF INLE LAKE Exploring the World of Inle Lake. Day 11: Traveling from Mandalay to Inle Lake followed by a tour of the lake before relaxing at the Paramount Inle Resort. With another morning of traveling, we were up around 5 a.m. and packed up. The buffet breakfast had attentive service and made-to-order eggs which was a GABORONE THE CAPITAL OF BOTSWANA Gaborone, also known simply as Gabs, is the capital of Botswana and also the largest city with a population of over 200,000. Located less than 10 miles (15 km) from the South African border, it is a convenient gateway to the rest of the country. THE MARVELOUS TAJ MAHAL Besides the world wonder status, the Taj is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It was built in 1632–1653 as a mausoleum for the third wife of the emperor Shah Jahan. Our guides gave us great insights on the construction and architectural design of the Taj buildings. We saw the visual effects of how the size of the arabicwriting looks the
ATLANTA ON A WEEKEND Exploring the best sights of Atlanta on a weekend trip. The metropolis and one of the central business hubs of the US also has a number of historical and touristic sights. At the Monserrate station, I waited in line for tickets and to ride the cable car up. The line almost took an hour, probably because people wanted to see the sunset. In line I met a guy named Ramsey who use to live in Philadelphia and now is working in South America. LILONGWE TOP SIGHTS IN A DAY I ended the day back at Sunbird Capital where I met with the GM of the hotel who gave me an insider tour of the property.. In the evening I had a drink with Chris from Wilderness Safaris.Originally from England, he’s been in Malawi for around 25 years. He gave me some pointers about driving through the country and an introduction to MvuuLodge.

Rarely does a hotel’s name define five-star luxury, but that’s exactly the case with Ritz Carlton. When visiting Almaty, I was excited to find their newly opened location right on the mountains edge, near the financial district.
