USE OF THE WHIP IN RACING Here is our position on the whip: We are often asked why horse riders and jockeys carry a whip. The answer is that a whip can have an important role in keeping the horse and rider safe when it is used to get a horse’s attention to steer it away from danger. I would encourage anyone to donate money or leave a legacy as it allows World Horse Welfare to continue to transform the lives of many more horses worldwide." Need to Breed leaflet. Download our leaflet, outlining some of the key points for consideration. We hope you will read and share with anyone you know who is thinking of breeding. You can request posters and copies of the leaflet for your yard or elsewhere by emailing info@worldhorsewelfare.org. HOW DO YOU TREAT MITES IN HORSES? Currently there are no veterinary products licensed to treat mites in horses but vets often recommend a topical antiparasitic application such as Frontline or a product called Dectomax given by injection which is licensed for use in sheep and cattle. This has proved very effective in reducing the number of mites across the horse’s wholebody.
