BEN SIMMONS IS OUT FOR THE NIGHT Simmons re-injured his back going up for a layup midway through the first quarter. ABC’s Jorge Sedano reported that “after getting treatment he has now been ruled out for the rest of this game.” Keith Pompey has more details here. Brett Brown was asked about the impact of Simmons’ absence by Sedano in an interview between quarters, while Simmons was in the locker room but befor he was ruled out. Brown said: “You’ve just got to grab what’s on the bench and manufacture a point guard. We got Alec 10 days ago, and he’s going to dribble the ball up and get us organized. J-Rich can do that as well. I think we’re going to feel the pain more defensively than offensively.”Share__

THEN BEN SIMMONS LEAVES THE COURT INJURED... ... or maybe there’s more to it. ABC sideline reporter Jorge Sedano just said “that is going to be the norm tonight - when he’s out of the game, he’s going to go back to the locker room and get treatment. So expect that to be the case throughout the evening.”Share__

HUBIE BROWN PRAISES BEN SIMMONS And does so as Simmons scores back-to-back baskets with slashinglayups to the hole.
“This is the best that he’s played since he’s been in the league, because he’s challenging, he’s playing with great confidence,” Brown said. “Not only with the assists, he’s one of the best in the league, but he’also getting you eight rebounds a game … he blows by people they don’t even realize they can’t stop him.”Share__
