Here are the top performances from the 2020 Grammy Awards, held Sunday, Jan. 26, at the Staples Center in Los Angeles:CAMILA CABELLO
Talk about a tearjerker! The pop star definitely had the stars in the crowd reaching for their Kleenex as she sang a poignant, emotional rendition of “First Man,” a beautiful ballad written about her father. Her dad was listening from the front row, wiping away the tears as old videos of the two of them were being shown. The moment climaxed as Cabello walked into the crowd at the end of the song to give dad a huge hug. Beautifully done, Camila.RELATED ARTICLES

LIL NAS X
We’ve all heard the record-breaking song “Old Town Road” so many times this year that the question was: How will Lil Nas make it sound fresh and interesting on Grammy night? The answer was just three letters — BTS. The phenomenally popular K-pop group shared the stage with a cast that included Lil X, Billy Ray Cyrus and — oh, yeah — hip-hop legend Nas himself to create what what was an amazingly fun live remix on the year’s most popular song.DEMI LOVATO
It was such an emotional moment that it took her two tries to get through it. Yet, after stopping and starting again, Lovato absolutely soared through this emotionally personal ballad “Anyone.” It was reportedly her first performance since her 2018 overdose — and what a way it was to mark her return to the stage.LIZZO
The evening’s most nominated act, who led the pack with eight nods, kicked off the show by dedicating the 2020 Grammy Awards to Kobe Bryant, the Los Angeles Lakers star who died early in the day in a helicopter crash. The hip-hop/R&B star then delivered a powerhouse performance, knitting together “Cuz I Love You” and “Truth Hurts,” accompanied by a string section and a dance crew.AEROSMITH/RUN-DMC
A few minutes into the performance, this was looking like anything but one of the evening’s standouts as Aerosmith limped its way through a creaky version of “Livin’ on the Edge.” Then Run-DMC showed up and the party kicked into hyperdrive. The result was a great celebration of one of the signature moments of 1980s’ popular music, as Aerosmith and Run-DMC revived their epic collaboration on “WalkThis Way.”
ALICIA KEYS
Our host for the evening was just so terrific, on so many different counts, that it would be a shame to leave her off the list. She was the picture of class throughout the show, but especially so when she spoke at length of the death of Kobe Bryant.
She’d turn to music to express what people were feeling over the loss, joining with Boyz II Men on tender a cappella version of “It’s So Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday.”H.E.R.
The Vallejo native, who wowed millions with her performance at the previous Grammys in 2019, was back onstage and showcasing her tremendous vocals on “Sometimes.” She’d also play piano and then picked up an electric guitar and delivered a rocking lead for good measure. It was another impressive showing. Too bad she didn’t grab any gold, despite five nominations. -------------------------* Report an error
